Gene discovery for seeds

What we do?

With our patented DIP™ (Direct-In-Plant) and DIPPER™ (Direct In Plant Platform for Edited Regulation) technologies, we discover & develop novel genes and gene-editing targets with positive effects on plants, such as yield improvement, drought resistance, herbicide tolerance, nitrogen use efficacy and insect tolerance.

Use case

Our genes are implemented in leading global crops such as Soy, Corn, Canola and Alfalfa utilizing both genetic modification and gene editing processes.

strategic partners

To date, we have 8 collaboration agreements with global seeds companies that utilize our technology to enhance crop traits, and adapt them to climate change. Among them are KWS ,Rallis (a Tata enterprise company), Bioceres  and more

RNAi based products

What we do?

We are global leaders in the development of RNAi-based external applications for crop protection and yield enhancement. The externally applied RNAi molecules temporarily affect specific genes, resulting in the desired positive effects.

Use case

Our  leading RNAi projects include RNAi applications for yield improvement in crops such as canola, soybean and rice, as well as RNAi applications  for biological insect control of the Red Palm Weevil, the most devastating pest to palm trees, and of the Cotton Boll Weevil.

We develop our products with strategic partners such as ICL,  Gadot Agro and TMG to bring revolutionary solutions to farmers worldwide  and more.

Drought Resistance and
Yield Increase in Corn

The Need – Climate change

The increasing world population, with the decrease in arable lands, and the damage caused by climate changes are the major challenges that need to be addressed to ensure global food security. Corn which is one of the leading global crops, is highly sensitive to climate changes such as increasing prevalences of droughts.

Genetic improvement provides game-changing yield enhancement in corn

PlantArcBio harnessed its DIPTM platform to discover novel genes that enhance crops with drought resistance while increasing their yield.

PlantArcBio has partnered with Rallis, a subsidiary of Tata Chemicals, to develop drought tolerant-corn with higher yield than ever before. Results of trials performed by Rallis demonstrate a 60%-250% yield increase (seed weight) in corn under drought conditions, with yield increases also observed under normal (irrigated) conditions.

Corn is just the beginning. The same genes could be applied to additional crops to increase yield and protect them from drought.

Red Palm Weevil RNAi Solution

The Need

The Red Palm Weevil (RPW) is the most devastating pest for palm trees, causing significant damage to various types of palm trees worldwide. The primary damage is caused by larvae feeding on the trunk.

Biological Pest Control

PlantArcBio, in partnership with Gadot Agro, a leading crop protection company, has developed a biological solution based on RNAi technology for the effective, pest-specific, and sustainable control of the RPW. This solution aims to overcome existing chemical control limitations associated with efficacy and sustainability.

To provide the best-performing solution, the RNAi product is injected into the trees, effectively causing larval mortality. The RNAi approach allows for a non-toxic, fully degradable biological product that keeps the trees and the environment safe.
